On Wednesday, 7 August 2024, students from Year 5 to Year 11 at De La Salle College participated in the annual Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC). This prestigious event is renowned for its challenging problems, crafted each year by leading educators and academics, with the goal of extending and refining students’ problem-solving skills.
The AMC is one of the largest and most highly regarded mathematics competitions in Australia, offering students the opportunity to engage with complex and creative mathematical problems. The competition encourages participants to think critically and develop innovative approaches to solving these problems, which range from relatively simple to extremely challenging.
This year’s competition saw strong participation across all levels at De La Salle College, reflecting the students’ enthusiasm for mathematics and their willingness to engage with academic challenges. The problems presented in the AMC are designed not only to test the students’ knowledge but also to push the boundaries of their problem-solving abilities.
In preparation for the competition, students dedicated significant time to practicing and honing their skills, demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence. The skills developed through this competition, such as logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and perseverance, are invaluable and will benefit the students in their broader academic and personal lives.
De La Salle College is proud of all the students who took part in the AMC, and we look forward to receiving the results in the coming weeks. Regardless of the outcomes, their participation alone is a testament to their dedication and love for mathematics.
We extend our congratulations to all participants and encourage them to continue pursuing excellence in mathematics. The college remains committed to providing opportunities like the AMC to nurture and challenge our students in their academic journey.
