Victorian Schools Garden Awards
The Year 11 VCAL students have spent 2016 working on a number of garden landscaping projects. They built raised vegetable beds and a timber seating area near Dalny St, completing the project with a painting scheme in the College house colours. Behind the Technology building on the Tiverton campus, an empty garden bed was transformed into the front yard of a Hobbit’s house. The boys constructed fencing and the façade for the house. Their efforts were rewarded by the Victorian Schools Garden Awards Scheme. At the awards ceremony this week, the boys won the Most Improved Green Space award. The prize was $1000 in garden supplies towards completion of the existing projects.
This is a great effort headed up by Dave Murray and Tim Hogan with the support of several staff members and maintenance staff. Financial support was generously supplied by Haylene Peipert and the College leaders from Founders Day. Further support and donations from Bunnings and their suppliers was also greatly appreciated.
