Year 7, 2015 Information Night

On Wednesday 26 February, prospective students for Year 7 in 2015 and their families were invited to attend an Information Session in the College Gymnasium that provided an overview of secondary life at De La Salle College.

Mr Mark Gustincic, Deputy Principal — Teaching & Learning, gave a comprehensive overview of our curriculum at Year 7 and into the Senior years. He detailed our support structures for our students and the technology interfaces used at the College.

Mr John McAlroy, Head of Tiverton Campus, spoke in depth about the Pastoral care provided at the College and also of the abundance of opportunities within our Co‐Curricula programs.

Guests were very fortunate to hear from two of our new Year 7 students in 2014 and their personal perspectives on transitioning into De La Salle College. Our 2014 College Captain, James Benton, and returning Old Collegian, Class of 2013, Richard Buckley gave insight from a different perspective on their time at the College.

The Principal, Mr. Peter Houlihan, outlined his expectations of our students in respect of De La Salle College being a Lasallian community. He emphasised the importance of the ongoing partnership of parents, students and school, and also outlined his expectations in relation to academic and personal standards. He spoke of the pride in wearing the De La Salle crest and on his impressions of our students in his first weeks as the new Principal of the College.

The evening concluded with a photographic display of our current Year 7 students and their interactions in their first weeks at De La Salle College.

Thank you to all families for their attendance. The full Year 7, 2015 Information Night Presentation and Year 7, 2015 Information Night Booklet from this event are also available to download.
