Pastoral Care and Organisation

On Monday 29 September Year 8 students Darcy Brooks, Adam Pierias, Joseph Taylor, Cooper Joyce, Max Moolman, Connor Moohan and Kasey Boyle participated in Camp De La Salle at Phillip Island.

This was a youth leadership program conducted by Lasallian Youth Ministry and enabled the seven De La Salle Malvern representatives to meet and interact with students from St James East Bentleigh, St Bede’s Mentone, St John’s Dandenong and Simonds Catholic College West Melbourne. All of the boys found the camp to be a very positive experience and were full of praise for members of the Lasallian Youth Ministry Team when they returned to school last week. The College would like to thank the Lasallian Youth Ministry and Mr Clinton Harris and Mr Michael Bohan from De La Salle who assisted with the transportation of the boys.

ACC Leadership Workshop

The ACC Leadership Workshop was conducted at Parade College Bundoora yesterday, Wednesday 15 October. The day involved student leaders across a wide range of sports from each of the ACC schools participating in workshops and presentations. Participants were also lucky enough to hear key note addresses from speakers including Australian Paralympian Don Elgin and Richard Moloney, a leadership specialist working with elite Australian athletes. De La Salle was represented by 16 Year 11 students at this event.

There will be no classes for students in Years 7 – 11 on this day.

Year 9 Ambassador Program

The Year 9 Ambassador Program commenced this year. The program involves 30 students from Year 9 who act as ambassadors for the College at key events such as tours, information nights, expos and a range of formal college events. Throughout the program students gain confidence in interacting with a variety of age groups as well as enhancing their communication skills through speaking and guiding activities. The College would like to thank the boys involved for their efforts throughout the year as well as Mr Chris Martin, who has acted as mentor and organiser of the ambassador group.
